## Advisor Style & Mentorship

Hank's students are free, and he is open to:
* give initial ideas of a brand new project that is in Hank's mind
* break the goal into several pieces to conquer respectively
* share paper that are highly related to the project
* directly debug the code together with students (Hank is an awesome MATLAB coder)

## Expectations for Students

I'm Hank's intern and Hank did not directly tell me about his expectations on interns. However, Hank's 2 first-year PhD students have already got the ability to find some projects themselves to work on.

## Funding & Support

Sufficient. Currently the lab has 7 workstations (each with 2 RTX 6000 Ada, at least 56 CPUs and at least 512GB memory) and 1 robotic arm. There are also keyboards & mice for everyone, and several 3840x1600 screens. New PhD students can upgrade their laptops using Hank's funding.

## Research

Hank got his EB1A 1 year within his PhD graduation, which is almost impossible for a Chinese male.

## Lab Culture

* No lab meetings. There are indeed reading groups hosted by the postdoc, but no one is forced to participate.
* Freedom in working. Students are neither required to work in office nor required to work during weekdays. Again, everyone in Hank's group are super self-motivated, so currently this is the best for everyone in the group.
* Friendliness. During weekends and holidays, if Hank or his postdoc goes to the office, they will take every student there to have lunch or dinner together.
