Professor Wang is leading the Golgi field in the world.  I know him very well for many years and I have written a couple of recommendation letters for those who are insterested in joining his new lab in ShenZhen. He is great scientist and nice person.

When he was hired by University of Michigan, his was infefinitely suspended by the university as a result of Title IX investigation in reponse to complaints about harassment, including sexual harassments. He appealed and his appeal was found without merit. Wang was found responsible for the Title IX violations. The investigation happened from summer 2023, and it ended around May 2024. Wans chose to resign from the University of Michigan and joined SZBL.
In China, Wang is actively recruiting new students. Given his history of sexual harassment in the lab, I am deeply concerned that these behaviors may continue unchecked in his new role. In addition, after his resignation from UM, Wang has attended and sometimes been invited to academic seminars and retreats in China. I have also seen students post on social media their interactions with Wang at these events. This leads me to believe that no one in China is aware of what he did or why he resigned from the University of Michigan, let alone the investigation and its results. On top of this, I cannot find any existing official reports regarding this investigation, making it difficult for other students or staff to know this, but also for anyone who already knew this to warn others.

No, I don't recommend this PI.

: Such information could NOT be true because I could not find any official announcement for this investigation at this university. One thing I can read from this post is that Professor Wang was not fired by this university, it was his decision to leave.
